The ConsultantsPhil Gibson worked closely with BMS as an Associate Consultant for six years before joining the team full time as a Senior Consultant in 2002. In May 2003 he became Managing Director and is dedicated to the company's mission of providing "Excellence through integrity in professional, executive and industrial recruitment".Qualified in both chemistry and chemical engineering. Phil spent 30 years in industry prior to moving into consultancy. For the last 16 years of his industrial career, he was responsible for recruitment and training for a UK division of a major American Corporation. His remit covered staff development and selection in both the UK and Europe. He is also a specialist in psychometric assessment. He brings with him a wealth of expertise and knowledge, particularly in the scientific, engineering and technical markets and has been called as an 'expert witness' in recruitment matters relating to industrial tribunals.
Alison Harkness BA (Hons). Originally from Cheshire, Alison began her professional career working in marketing and PR management in London. She consolidated her commercial experience by working within the retail and FMCG sectors. Returning to the North West in 1998, Alison entered the world of recruitment. She joined an Executive Search and Selection Consultancy specialising in senior level appointments recruiting across a broad range of functions and industries, before joining BMS in May 2003. She is adept at project management and building and maintaining client relationships.
Derek Steele F.I.Chem.E. After an early career working in technical and production departments of a food manufacturer, Derek qualified as a Chemical Engineer and spent many years working in the fine chemicals industry in process/project engineering, engineering management, and general management before founding BMS Recruitment in 1988. Since then, he has helped many companies to recruit top quality candidates into Engineering, Scientific, Process Improvement, Change Management, Quality Standards and Business Development roles - to name but a few! Derek is now Consultant Advisor to BMS and will assist with technical / engineering recruitment and other ad hoc assignments when required.
